LIVE RIGHT, BE BRIGHT! Erasmus+ Youth Exchange

Events/News on 12 Aug , 2017

Live Right, Be Bright was an Erasmus+ funded youth exchange held in July 2017 for over 30 young people from four European Countries – Malta, Sardinia, Denmark and The Netherlands.

The exchange was organised by Empowering Youth in Care, a Maltese organisation that works with adolescent females who live in residential care, in collaboration with Malik Organisation based in Sardinia.  All the young people from the different countries met in Abbasanta, a small town in the centre of Sardinia, and followed an intense and fun programme of activities.

The activities involved used a number of informal activities and creative methods to explore a number of issues such as healthy lifestyles, making right choices, and achieving success.  Among the activities were the following:

Sports tournaments – this was organised by young people from the community who managed to bring together different nationalities through sports.

Voluntary work with the elderly – workshops were organised by the young people for the elderly.  The workshops included the teaching and learning of different languages, beauty stands, learning from the elderly how to prepare artisanal bread and teaching the elderly to use mobile phones.

Artistic workshops – A fantastic piece of art was created by the young people.  It encompassed a number of important themes discussed during the youth exchange: motivation, finding balance, making right choices and healthy living.

A multicultural evening – The local community of Abbasanta organised a cultural night during which traditional music, dance and food were the main attraction.  Each partner country had a stand with information, food and interesting facts from their country which was greatly appreciated and interested the Abbasanta community.

This fantastic experience was shared with the public through a Facebook page called Live Right Be Bright. Many of the young people have remained in touch after the exchange, and are exciting to organise other similar projects together.
